July 30, 2004 Amendments to the Agricultural Land Commission Act, 2004
BURNABY — On July 22, after consultation with the UBCM, government brought into effect the Agricultural Land Commission Amendment Act, 2004 and associated amendments to the Regulation. These amendments provide new procedures for the filing of ALR applications with the Commission by First Nations, both pre-treaty and post-treaty.

COURTENAY — A program which recognizes BC farmers who have set aside wildlife habitat and green space on their land has been recognized with a government grant of $60,000. The money goes to The Land Conservancy of BC's Conservation Partners Program, which promotes environmental conservation on agricultural land.
